Electrocardiography (ECG)

Electrocardiography (ECG)

Electrocardiography is the process of producing an electrocardiogram, recording of the electrical activity of the heart using electrodes placed on the skin. The graphic obtained with this recording is called an echocardiogram, and the instrument used is called an electrocardiograph.
ECG; It is based on the phases of contraction and relaxation of the auricles and ventricles of the heart, the electrical activity that occurs during the stimulation of the heart and the transmission of the stimulus on millimeter paper. It is a picture of the electrical map of the heart. In addition, information about the shape of the heart can be obtained with ECG.

With ECG;

• The function of the heart can be evaluated.
• The way of contraction of the heart muscle can be evaluated.
• Rhythm and conduction disorders of the heart can be determined.
• Coronary insufficiency or infarction can be diagnosed.
• The effects of non-cardiac diseases to the heart can be investigated.
• Signs of thickening in the heart walls and enlargement of the cardiac cavities can be detected.
• The effects of some heart medications, electrolyte imbalance (especially serum potassium deficiency or excess) can be determined.

ECG is an examination method that takes 5-10 minutes and is not painful or uncomfortable for the patient.

Echocardiography

It is a diagnostic and research method that allows to examine the different structures of the heart with ultrasonic sound waves, USG (Ultrasound) frequency is over 20,000 sounds per second. It is one of the most widely used diagnostic tests in cardiology. It can provide a wealth of helpful information, including the size and shape of the heart (internal chamber size quantification), pumping capacity, and the location and extent of any tissue damage. An echocardiogram can also give physicians other estimates of heart function, such as a calculation of the cardiac output and diastolic function (how well the heart relaxes).

With EKO;

• Information about heart attack, heart rheumatism, cardiac dysfunction, the amount and percentage of blood the heart pumps at once during contraction can be obtained.
• Evaluation of the structure and functions of cardiac valves that separate the cardiac cavities from each other and large vessels can be performed.
• Congenital and acquired structural disorders of cardiac valves,
• Inflammations (Endocarditis),
• Cardiovascular diseases (Pericarditis, Pericardial tumors),
• Determining the diameters and sizes of the cardiac cavities,
• Investigation of movements of the heart walls, whether there is movement disorder,
• Evaluation of problems that may occur during cardiac contraction,
• Evaluation of pressure changes in the cardiac cavities,
• Investigation of thrombus in the cardiac cavity,
• Diagnosis of congenital cardiac diseases can be made.

ECO is an examination method that takes 30 - 45 minutes and is not a painful or uncomfortable procedure for the patient.

COLOR DOPPLER

Color Doppler is a technique in which colors superimposed on an image of a blood vessel indicate the speed and direction of blood flow in the vessel.
Doppler ultrasound can be used to;

• Check blood flow in veins, arteries, and heart
• Look for narrowed or blocked arteries
• See how blood flows after treatment
• Look for bulging in an artery which is called an aneurysm

It’s one of the main ways to test for deep vein thrombosis (DVT) and pulmonary embolism.

BLOOD PRESSURE MEASUREMENT

Blood pressure is the pressure of circulating blood on the walls of blood vessels.

• Systolic pressure is the pressure of the blood in the arteries when the cardiac contraction. (High blood pressure).
• Diastolic pressure is the pressure of the blood in the arteries when the heart is filling. (Low blood pressure).

Normal blood pressure can vary depending on the species and age.

Conditions that cause changes in blood pressure;

• Depending on age in advanced ages
• Emergency cases (shock, trauma, toxicity, fluid collection in the heart membrane, etc.)
• Cardiovascular diseases
• Kidney failure
• Metabolic diseases
• Hormonal imbalances
• Diabetes
• Cancer cases
• Central nervous system diseases

Blood pressure measurement should be done regularly every 3 months, especially in older animals. In this way, many possible diseases can be prevented.

Blood pressure is measured in our clinic and it is a short-term and painless procedure.

CARDIAC SURGERY

• Cardiac tumors
• Pericardial effusion cases and Pericardiocentesis
• Operations of congenital cardiac anomalies

All these operations are performed in our clinic.
