Digital Radiography

Digital Radiography

Digital radiography is a form of radiography that uses X-Ray-sensitive plates to directly capture data during the patient examination, immediately transferring it to a computer system. Compared to the images obtained with conventional methods, more detailed, shorter examination time can be obtained in the diagnosis. Advantages include time efficiency through by passing chemical processing and the ability to digitally transfer and enhance images. . Also, less radiation can be used to produce an image of similar contrast to conventional radiography.

Fuji CR systems are used in our polyclinic.

The PennHIP Method- Hip Dysplasia

Hip dysplasia (developmental dislocation of the hip) is an abnormality of the hip joint where the socket portion does not fully cover the ball portion, resulting in an increased risk for joint dislocation. Hip dysplasia results pain and limited movement due to damage to the articular cartilage.

It most often occurs in breeds such as German shepherd, rottweiler, golden retriever, dobermann, kangal, etc., it can be seen in other dog breeds.

The PennHIP is a radiographic screening method for hip evaluation. This technique assesses the quality of the canine hip and quantitatively measures canine hip joint laxity.

The PennHIP method is taken at the age of 4-5 months, and the earliest diagnosis is provided and the formation of dysplasia can be minimized with the JPS (Juvenile Pubic Symphysiodesis) technique.

Medicated X-Ray

Structures that cannot be seen on normal radiograms are painted and rendered visible as a result of giving drugs called contrast material to various body cavities. Numerous contrast X-Ray examinations have been developed. The most common of these are the digestive system, kidney and urinary bladder examinations.

Examination of the digestive system with medicated X-Ray is very important in the diagnosis of conditions such as the detection of foreign bodies swallowed by cats and dogs, diseases such as megaesophagus and invagination.

Urography

Urography is a method of radiological imaging of the urinary tract. It is an examination method applied by intravenous administration of a contrast material that is excreted by the kidney and does not pass X-rays through the urinary tract.

With urography, very important findings are obtained both for diagnosis and treatment about the problems and diseases occurring in kidney and urinary canals.

Fistulography

Fistule are unnatural connections that occur between internal organs or between internal organs and the body surface. Fistules often develop when an organ becomes inflamed or injured.

Fistulography is an image taken by giving contrast material into the fistule and thus the fistule length, its location and its relation with the muscles are tried to be understood.
