Ear Disorders

In the anatomical classification of ear diseases:

1. External auditory canal diseases
2. Middle ear diseases
3. İnner ear disease

The most important causes of external auditory canal diseases;
• Drooped pinna (%30),
• Excessive hair in the canal (15%),
• Water trapped in the ear canal (%5),
• The stenosis of the ear canal (2%),
• Related to the causes mentioned above, various infections in the ear canal.

Most middle and inner ear diseases occur with the spread of external auditory canal diseases into the middle and inner ear.

The most common causes of ear diseases in patients coming to our polyclinic;

• Allergic reactions (40%),
• Fungal and bacterial infection (40%),
• Parasitic diseases (10%)
• Foreign matters (%5) and injury (5%),
• Ear canal tumors and polyps (Rarely)
• We also encounter ear rupture, diseases of the tympanic bulla, balance disorders, vestibular syndrome, horner syndrome, chronic degenerative diseases.

Important Note: The most important criteria of success in the treatment of ear diseases is the correct diagnosis. The most common problem we encounter is wrong or incomplete diagnosis and treatment.

Surgical operations like Myringotomy, ablation of the external auditory canal, tympanic bulla osteotomy are successfully carried out.
