LAPAROSCOPIC PROCEDURE

Along with technological advances, classical surgery has been replaced by laparoscopic surgery, resulting in fewer incisions, less pain, and early recovery.
In recent years, many surgeries involving general surgery are performed more reliably with laparoscopic methods. Some operations that were difficult to do in the past are carried out easily and smoothly with the laparoscopic method.

Laparoscopic surgery is the operations carried out with the help of a camera and the tools inserted through the thin tubes (trocar) placed in the body from several different points, without making the large incision. Laparoscopic surgery is used in operations involving the abdomen or thorax.

It also provides the opportunity to directly observe the diseases and to treat with tools inserted through the 5–10 mm holes from various parts of the abdomen.

Advantages of Laparoscopic Surgeries?

Laparoscopic surgery gives better results than operations performed by opening the abdomen. The main advantages of laparoscopic surgery are:

• Performing the operations without long incision results in less scarring.
• It causes less bleeding.
• Less tissue damage in the surgical field provides easier and faster recovery.
• One of the most obvious advantages of the laparoscopic method is that the patient’s pain is less after surgery and requires less analgesic.
• Since the risk of infection is less, antibiotics are not used after the operation.
• Hospitalization time is shorter in laparoscopic surgery.

The first application of laparoscopy in veterinary medicine where in Turkey was made in our clinic.

• Neutering in female dogs, (Ovariohisterectomi, ovariectomy)
• Cryptorchidism operations in male dogs (one or two testicles remaining in the abdomen),
• Gallbladder operations (stones etc.),
• Biopsy from organs in the abdomen,
• Pericardial effusion (fluid accumulation in the heart membrane)
• Nephrological surgeries

All these operations performed successfully with the laparoscopic method in our clinic.
