LDN (Low Dose Naltrexone)

Naltrexone is a drug approved by the FDA in 1984 for the treatment of heroin and morphine addicts.

Cancer and autoimmune diseases are triggered by low levels of endorphins in the blood and this causes the immune system to weaken.

Naltrexone modulates the immune system very successfully when used in very low doses.

It prevents the binding of opioid hormones such as endorphins and metenkephalin produced in the brain and adrenal glands to opioid receptors. Endorphins and metenkephalin are the body's natural pain relieving molecules. The receptors to which endorphine and enkephalin hormones bind are found in many organs in our body and in our immune system cells. Opioid receptors suppress immune system cells. Naltrexone helps prevent this suppression. Naltrexone, taken at night, provides an increase in endorphins and enkephalin levels and strengthens the immune system.

LDN is frequently used in FIP (Feline Infectious Peritonitis), FIV (Feline Immunodeficiency Virus), cancer cases, autoimmune diseases in our polyclinic.
